We are very proud to offer multidisciplinary treatment, supportive care and information to help manage the effects of the disease on people with ALS. The ALS team consists of a Neurologist, a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathologist, Respiratory Therapist, Licensed Social Worker and the ALS Association Patient Services Coordinator. Our extended team includes Pulmonologist, Gastroenterologist, Licensed Professional Counselor and Psychologist available upon referral.

ALS manifests itself differently for each person. This makes it difficulty for medical professionals to predict prognosis with accuracy. Therefore, the goal of the ALS Care Clinic is to help you and your family live with ALS as independently as possible for as long as possible. One of the biggest challenges facing those with ALS is that sometimes you may be asked to make difficult decisions about treatments or equipment before the need seems to be great enough. The professionals can recognize when change is needed and may indicate you need to adapt strategies to “stay ahead of the curve”. We prefer to think of this strategy as maximizing independence to stay in control of your life rather than “giving in to ALS”. The important point to remember is that you are in control regarding decisions about your healthcare. We are here to share the treatment options, problem solve on ways to maximize independence and introduce resources available so that you may make informed decisions.
